There are lots of tips and tricks you can use to keep your flowers looking fresh – you can read about some of them here.
But some flowers, no matter how well you care for them, just won’t last past a few days once they’re cut. Others can last for quite a while before wilting. Here are some of long-lasting favorites.
Carnations, if cared for properly, can last up to two weeks. Plus they are affordable, versatile and come in an amazing variety of colours.
Another winner is the beautiful orchid, which will look good in a vase for weeks before the flowers drop.
Look after your chrysanthemums to ensure they last over a week – change the water every three days, and spray them with a fine mist daily to keep them looking fresh.
If well looked after, roses can last for ten days or more. And good old Aussie natives will keep their colour for at least a fortnight. For extra-long lasting colour, look at cacti and succulents for bright foliage, and super staying power.
